 We recently had a very unfortunate experience with a breeder that we purchased a show puppy from . I did research and thought  I was purchasing a show pup from a reputable breeder , after all they have several dogs in many pedigrees and in the show rings now , she gave me a 1 year from the pups date of whelp guarantee , well a few weeks before the pups birthday she came up lame on her right rear leg , so off to the vet I went to have her patella's checked . It turns out this poor pup has    bi -laterl grade 2 luxating patella's , yes both knees ! This is in addition to her cherry eye that she had when she was a few months old . She has horrible skin allergies too . When I contacted the breeder she told me ( not her exact words ) that she does not guarantee  against bad knees as it is part of the breed . So let me get this straight bad knees are genetic which is hereditary so she is breeding defective dogs and selling them to people knowing this is a problem and hiding behind that this is common for this breed . Well BREEDERS all over can prevent many issues associated with this breed if they would carefully test their breeding stock and do reputable breedings with health and wellness of the offspring in mind . Now I am like many other unsuspecting puppy buyers stuck with a puppy that has severe health issues . I now am , with her breeders permission , allowed to rehome her to someone who is willing to take on a pup with many health issues . So I guess her breeder allowing me to rehome her justifies the fact that I paid alot of money for this dog and now I can send her to someone who would like a dog with many health issues . Where is the ethics in this and the breeder ? Do people only care about making money and not about the dogs they produce ? Be careful and read your health guarantee very careful before you buy a puppy .

Please be patient in your search for your Frenchie baby . Do thorough research on the breeder of your prospective pup . Not all breeders are totally honest and will not admit to faults or defects that are in their lines or pups they have bred .Request a 2 year congenital , genetic defect and health guarantee on your new pup . Also request that the parents be health tested . OFA certification on hearts is usually done by ausultation and will not detect certain defects of the heart , for this certification request a doplar or echocardiogram . Also try to get your pup from a breeder that does not mass produce or have more than 2-3 litters per year .
